Abrasive Nylon Twisted Brushes Information

Abrasive nylon twisted-in-wire brush diameters range from .030” to 2”. Abrasive nylon brushes are ideal for light deburring, finishing and cleaning internal holes. Nylon filament is uniformly impregnated with an abrasive grain. Filament wears evenly while exposing new edges for a consistent finish. Types of abrasive nylon filament available are silicon carbide, aluminum oxide and silicate. The products are available in filaments ranging from 80 to 600 grit. Silicon carbide is harder and sharper and produces a coarser finish. Aluminum oxide produces a better finish than silicon carbide because it is softer. Silicate is softer than aluminum oxide providing a finer finish.

Twisted brushes can be used on hand power tools, drill presses or in CNC machining centers. Standard in-stock products are available. Commonly brushes are designed to meet a specific customer specification for their application.

Common Applications

General applications include cleaning, deburring, polishing, reaming, finishing or removing debris or burrs from internal holes in metallic and non-metallic materials. Specific applications for abrasive nylon twisted-in-wire brushes include:
